top 5 reasons
to work with an immigration attorney

Immigration attorneys have access to invaluable resources.

Most immigration attorneys are members of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and have access to a wide network of legal resources, seminars, mentors, and other colleagues. These resources mean immigration attorneys can stay up-to-date on the latest changes in the law, bounce ideas off other colleagues, learn tips and tactics from others' experiences, and work cases as efficiently as possible.

There may be options that you didn't even know existed.

Immigration attorneys analyze your case and can come up with solutions that you may have never even considered to be an option, and therefore would have never applied for. They can also prepare creative legal arguments and present the facts of your case and the applicable law in precise, unique, and persuasive ways.

Notarios and immigration form preparers are NOT attorneys.

Notarios and form preparers may convince you to let them handle your case "for cheap" and may even guarantee certain results. But they are not actual attorneys, and what they are doing is the unlicensed practice of law. This can negatively impact your case because they aren't analyzing the law and they can't go to Immigration Court or USCIS interviews with you, leaving you stranded when it matters most.

It's not just a "bunch of forms" to fill out.

While part of the immigration process includes submitting forms, knowing which form to file, when, and why (or whether you even qualify to submit those forms in the first place) is even more important. You don't want to run the risk of applying for something only to find out you did it wrong and now your application is rejected or worse.

Immigration law is complex and can change quickly.

Immigration law is based on federal statutes and regulations, but how those statutes and regulations are interpreted and applied can change quickly. This can happen anytime a new policy is issued or implemented, something happens in the world that causes a humanitarian crisis, a new court opinion is issued, or even when a new presidential administration takes office and enforces its own priorities.
